- I had similar problems with NNTP news. Also, the system hung when
- I tried to post an article.
-
- It later turned out to be our local news server that was tired.
- Later on, our network administrators updated the sofware on
- the server. Now it works great. Contact your your news-server
- administrator and tell him about your problems. Maybe they had
- similar comments from other users.

- Subject: winsock servers problem
-
- I wonder if any of you are able to throw light on a problem I have with my
- winsock setup:
-
- All the servers/daemons I have tried works fine once and just once, ie. first
- connection from the outside world works then the sever hangs.
-
- This has happened with:
- serweb3
- go4ham
- wsfngrd
- lptd
- and a couple of others that I have forgotten what were called.
-
- My setup.
- pc-nfs 5.0 talking ndis.
- all patches I have been able to lay my hands on (e.g. DNS works with my
- setup)
-
- Any ideas?

- Subject: does a FAQ exist for newbies (like me)
-
-
- I've been reading this group for a couple of weeks now, and want
- to start trying this stuff out on my 486 at home. I've downloaded
- a few files (Trumpet, Xwin) but I'm not sure where to go from here.
- Is there some sort of FAQ that puts this whole procedure together,
- and explains the different ways to get there? My first question
- is there a program that will to ppp instead of slip (which is what
- Trumpet want to do (I think!))
-
- Any info would be greatly appreciated!!
